What a Special Day

Abby, Matthew, Lynn and I went to the Manti Temple on Saturday, September 12, 2009, to take some names that I have found on the New Family Search.

We got the cards printed and there were 20 that needed sealings done.  Even though this was a busy Saturday morning with weddings etc and Apostle Christopherson coming for a training session in the temple with stake presidents and bishops, they were still doing sealings.  I was elated because I have been wanting to do these names for awhile.  We got dressed in our clothes and they took us to the Celestial Room to wait for the sealer;  it was so peaceful and quiet and a perfect time to sit and contemplate.  The sealer came and got us and we were in one of the sealing rooms just off the Celestial room; how special is that.

Then we started.  Lynn and I sealed a couple together first; then Matthew joined us and we did the male names of sealing to parents.  There were others there too and while we were resting our knees they did some for the temple.

Then it was Abby’s turn with us;  we did the female sealings to parents. The sealer was special too, he kept remarking how happy these people were to be found and some of them had waited over 100 years to be sealed to their parents and what a joyous time they must be having today.  I was so happy while we were doing this, I was smiling and crying at the same time.  It was a feeling I have never felt before in the temple.  I know they were there with us.

We did some for the temple too and then it was time for the sealer to go marry someone and there was a session ready to come through the veil, so the others were getting ready to help them.  I was way impressed on all the things going on at once in the temple in a quiet and spiritual manner, everyone of those things providing a spiritual experience for those participating if they chose to be atuned; I felt like I was seeing a little part of how heaven is that day and I felt blessed beyond expression.

We are all wishing to have special spiritual experiences, well there is no better place than the temple.  I had one of those on Saturday and now I am anxious to get more names and feel that joy and bit of heaven again.  How about coming with me!!!!  I’d love to share it with you.

STROLL DOWN MEMORY LANE

Here is my story of how Labor Day went!  It was definitely a time of de ju vue for me.

You can see that we are all happy to be doing something different for a change.

Unlike Abby, I knew this would be a great place to eat because the dives in a little town are always the bet.  We truly did have a bunch of food.  The pancakes were as big as the plate and yummy too.

These cute shots were while we were waiting for our food.  The books on the table to read are those books they have there and they were written by a guy who used to be in our ward.  They were kind of goofy.

The trilobite dig is always a fun stop.  It is great when you find one that is whole.  It is amazing that there are still some on the top of the shale.  We found quite a few.  Jeremy is at the age where climbing any tree he can find is what he loves to do.

This is Sinbad Canyon.  You can see the drop is awful and of course Matthew teases the kids about dropping them off.  Scare me to death!!!!!

100_0031  I think the rollercoaster road has gotten even better than when we used to go there.  Maybe Matthew was more daring at going fast than Lynn was but it definitely was fun.

An we finally arrive at Castle Rock.  There are so many memories here that I can barely express them.  My mind when back 25 years and I could see Louis and Abby playing here all day long and loving it.  Camping in our trailer and having a great time in nature.  They would hike up the cave you see in the middle and throw rubber balls against the wall and hike and dig and anything else they could think of.

Abby had quite a hard time eating lunch in NATURE but she survived.  We had gotten some sandwich stuff in Delta.  Look at Bailee with the jacket and hood on.  You would think it is cold but it is raging hot.  For some reason she thought she had to have that on.

100_0051  A desert trip is not complete without stopping by and saying hello to Bob Stinson’s cabin.

This is a great view from the cabin looking down.

Abby has had enough of nature and here we are getting into the car to go home; it was starting to cloud a little bit but it was a great day with lots of memories.  Now I have even more.  Next time you all need to come too.  The rollercoaster ride is quite awesome.

Bailee Makes Me Happy

I just have to tell you a really cute thing that Bailee did yesterday. It really made me smile inside as I tried very hard not to laugh out loud with her there.

Her dad sent her over to borrow a stick of butter. So she comes in and tells me she needs a stick of butter. I say, Okay. Get in the frige and give her stick of butter. She looked at me and she said. I need one more thing and I said what. She said.

I need a stick.

Doesn't that just tickle your funny bone. Kids say the darndest things and can make a gray day sunny.

Ten reasons why I LOVE April!!!

I cannot tell you how glad I am that March is finally over. It lived up to it's reputation up until the very last day with freezing cold wind and snow flurries all over the place. I am glad to kick out March and welcome April with open arms. At last there is spring in the air and hope for a sunny tomorrow. So here go my reasons why I love April.

1. First and foremost, Lynn and I were married in April, so I love April because of that.
2. The savior was born in April.
3. Conference is in April and I love going to conference and getting rejuvinated to be better than I am.
4. Disneyland is in April and it is not so hot in sunny California in April but sitting in the sunshine at Disneyland feels mighty good when it is bad weather at home.
5. I can get my flower beds ready for the new season.
6. The kids can play outside and have a great time.
7. I might can get my lawn cut and get all the dead grass off (if Matt is in the mood that is).
8. Everyone is more happy and smiling because they can get outside and bask in the sunshine.
9. Sometimes Easter falls in this month and I love Easter. I love coloring eggs and rolling them down a hill and putting plastic eggs for the kids to find for an easter egg hunt. Also Easter dinner is quite yummy.
10. Last but not least, the cows get branded in April and this has become quite a fun thing for our family and extended families to participate in. They get all dirty and smelly and we take them a hamberger for lunch and we all feel pretty satisfied with life.

There you have it. My reasons for loving April. What are some of yours?

Ten reasons why I hate March

Just to make the record clear. I have hated March a lot longer than any of you because I have hated it since you were all little. I guess I have just rubbed off on the rest of you. So here goes, 10 reasons why I hate March.

1. It is so muddy that I want to scream because lots of mud gets tracked in the house from doing the chores.
2. It goes by so slow because there is nothing going on in March to look forward to.
3. You can never depend on the weather. It could be freezing one minute and warm the next.
4. I am ready for spring and it just isn't happening.
5. It never stays true to the saying and about if it comes in like a lion it will go out like a lamb.
6. It has already been winter for 5 months and needs to stop!!!!
7. I am in the mood to garden and it is still too early. By the time it is warm enough my mood has gone.
8. The lawn and trees are ugly and non-inspiring.
9. I am tired of being cooped up in the house all day long and so are the kids. If they go out when it is still cold they end up getting sick.
10. There are too many days in March. We need to vote and only have 20 days in March so we can get rid of this pathetic substitute for a month as soon as possible and move on to impish April.

We are all going down to Ray and Linsey's this weekend to celebrate Meggie's birthday. I can't believe she is going to be 1 year old. She is such a petite little thing. She came to vist a few weeks ago and you see how absolutely cute she is. Whenever anyone sees her the first thing they want to do is kiss her (especially me). The other kids are crazy for her. In fact, as you can see below, we had to put her in "jail" so the kids would quit bothering her and making her cry. She doesn't complain though because she is so good natured.

Meggie is my love name for Megan. She will always be Meggie to me. I am so blessed to have 11 great, wonderful, beautiful, smart, adorable, smart, active, funny, did I say smart, best grandchildren in the world.
Happy Birthday Meggie and know that we all love you very much.

Okay, here goes. This is a thought without any pictures. Most of the time I don't blog because I don't have any pictures but this will have to do.

I am most happy right now today, than I've been in awhile. Why?? I'll tell you. Because my sweetheart is as happy as I've seen him in a long time. He is almost giddy with anticipation. The new cows have made his life less tenuous and now we can really get on with building our ranch out to the meadow. It makes me so happy to see him happy. It is true what they say about happiness. If you want to be happy just make someone else happy and you will be too. If you are only thinking of yourself and your own happiness it never comes. I seem to forget that from time to time but I am back on track and looking forward to a bright new future on the ranch. We have turned a corner and we are on the upward trend. No more doom and gloom for me. So if you really want to be happy, see what you can do for your sweety pie and see how it makes you feel.
